Spode is a historic ceramic manufacturer founded in Stoke-on-Trent, England in 1770 by Josiah Spode. Around 1784, they developed a technique for underglaze painting using copperplate transfer technology, and later perfected fine bone china, a transparent white ceramic. In the early 19th century, they received the honor of being a purveyor to the British Royal Family, and produced many pieces beloved around the world, such as Blue Italian, which depicts an ancient Roman motif. Currently, they are under the umbrella of Portmeirion, and continue to protect their traditions and craftsmanship.
This TRAPNELL SPRAYS series is a remake of the designs released around 1900 under the name of A. Trapnell, a famous ceramics collector, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Spode's founding in 1983. The series features refreshing and gentle blue lines and fruit colors, and is characterized by its classic and elegant design with delicate depictions of flowers and plants. This beautiful floral collection, selected from Spode's rich design archive, expresses the beauty of nature and is loved by many people.
