Royal Doulton was founded by John Doulton in 1815, and was allowed to use the "Royal" prefix in 1901. It is still known as the official brand of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles.
This Carlyle series is named after the Scottish thinker Carlyle. The flowers painted in gold on a deep peacock blue background feature a sophisticated and chic design reminiscent of Japanese lacquerware. Although it is no longer in production, this is an excellent series that continues the Royal Doulton tradition.
